Mesh WiFi has pretty much taken over the home networking market, but more and more small businesses in Fort Myers are starting to use these systems too. Makes sense. Theyre easy to set up, they cover large spaces without dead zones, and you dont need to run ethernet cables to every corner of your office.

I’ve deployed both the TP-Link Deco and Amazon’s Eero Pro in local businesses over the past year. They’re both solid, but they solve different problems. Here’s what I found after running them side by side.

TP-Link Deco XE75: The Budget Friendly Workhorse

The Deco XE75 is a WiFi 6E mesh system, which means it adds a third 6GHz band on top of the usual 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands. In practice this means less congestion when you’ve got 20+ devices fighting for bandwidth, which is pretty common in any office with laptops, phones, printers, and smart devices all connected at once.

A 3 pack covers about 5,500 square feet according to TP-Link, and from what I’ve seen in real world testing thats not far off. I set up a 3 pack in a 4,000 square foot insurance office near Cape Coral and got solid coverage in every room including the break room in the back corner that used to be a dead zone.

Speed wise, I was pulling about 600 Mbps on the 5GHz band at 15 feet and around 350 Mbps at 30 feet. The 6GHz band hit close to 800 Mbps but your devices need to support WiFi 6E to take advantage of it. Most laptops from 2024 and newer do.

The Deco app is straightforward. Basic parental controls, QoS settings, a guest network, and you can see every connected device. It also integrates with TP-Link’s Omada business platform if you want more advanced management down the road.

A 3 pack runs about $249 on Amazon, which honestly is a steal for WiFi 6E mesh coverage.

Eero Pro 6E: The Simple and Polished Option

Amazon’s Eero Pro 6E is the premium mesh system in their lineup. Also WiFi 6E, also tri band, but with a different approach. Where TP-Link gives you more settings to play with, Eero keeps things minimal. The setup app is probably the simplest I’ve ever used for any networking product. Five minutes and you’re done.

Coverage with a 3 pack is rated at 6,000 square feet. I tested it in a real estate office in Naples, roughly 3,800 square feet with lots of glass walls (which WiFi hates). Performance was good, about 550 Mbps on 5GHz and around 750 Mbps on 6GHz at close range. The glass walls knocked it down to about 250 Mbps in the far offices, but that’s still plenty for typical office work.

Eero has a built in security feature called Eero Secure that blocks threats at the network level. Its $9.99 a month though, which adds up. TP-Link includes their basic security features for free.

A 3 pack costs about $449, so nearly double the Deco.

Head to Head: What Actually Matters for Business

Price: TP-Link Deco wins easily. $249 vs $449 for basically the same WiFi 6E coverage. Unless you need something specific from Eero, thats a $200 difference that’s hard to justify.

Speed: Pretty close. Eero edges ahead slightly on the 6GHz band but the Deco holds its own on 5GHz. In daily office use you won’t notice a difference.

Ease of setup: Both are easy but Eero is slightly simpler. If the person setting this up has never configured a router before, Eero has the edge.

Security features: This is where it gets interesting. TP-Link includes basic network security for free and can upgrade to their Omada business management. Eero charges $9.99/month for their Eero Secure service. Over two years thats an extra $240 on top of the higher purchase price.

Business management: TP-Link wins here. The Deco integrates with TP-Link’s Omada ecosystem, which means you can manage it alongside Omada switches and access points from a single dashboard. Eero is more of a standalone system.

Smart home integration: Eero wins if you’re an Alexa shop since its made by Amazon. TP-Link works with Alexa too but the integration isnt quite as tight.

My Recommendation for Fort Myers Businesses

For most small businesses in Southwest Florida, go with the TP-Link Deco XE75. Its half the price, the performance is nearly identical, the security features are included free, and the Omada integration gives you a real upgrade path when your business grows. I’ve installed these in offices, medical practices, and retail spaces around Fort Myers and they just work.

The Eero Pro 6E makes sense if you want the absolute simplest setup possible and dont mind paying a premium for it. Its a great product, just not the best value for business use.

Either way, both of these are miles ahead of that old Netgear router from 2019 that half the businesses around here are still running. If that sounds familiar, it’s time to upgrade.
