HenkTek runs henktek.com out of Fort Myers, Florida. This page explains what info we collect when you use the site or get in touch about IT services, and what we do with it. If anything here is unclear, give us a call at (239) 234-2334 and we’ll walk you through it.
When you fill out a contact form, request a quote, or email us, we collect the info you give us. Usually that’s your name, business name, phone number, email address, and whatever details you share about your IT issue. We need this to actually help you.
When you visit the site, we also pick up some basic technical info automatically. Things like your IP address, browser type, the pages you looked at, and how you got to the site. This is standard web log stuff and we use it to keep the site running and spot abuse.
We use cookies for site functionality and analytics. You can turn cookies off in your browser if you want, but parts of the site might not work right.
Mostly to reply to you and do the work you hired us for. If you ask for a quote, we use your info to put one together. If you become a client, we keep records of the work we do for you because that’s how a business operates.
We don’t sell your information. We don’t rent it. We don’t share it with marketers. If we ever need a contractor to help on a project (rare, but it happens), we only share what’s needed to get the job done, and they’re under the same confidentiality we are.
We use Google Analytics to see how the site is being used. Google may collect anonymous data about your visit. You can opt out at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
If we ever embed YouTube videos or use other third party services on the site, those services have their own privacy policies and we don’t control what they do with your data.
Some posts on this site, mostly the hardware and software reviews on our blog, contain affiliate links. If you click one and buy something, HenkTek may earn a commission from the retailer. You pay the same price either way. We are a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program (our tag is henkelvisionl-20) and we work with affiliate networks including CJ Affiliate, which connect us to vendors such as Sucuri, Malwarebytes and NordVPN.
Those links pass a tracking identifier to the retailer or network so the sale can be credited to us. That process is run by the retailer and the network, not by HenkTek, and it is covered by their own privacy policies rather than this one. We never see your payment details, your card number, or what else is in your cart. All we get is a report telling us a sale happened.
Commission does not decide what we recommend. We write about the gear we actually install and support for clients in Fort Myers, and plenty of what we recommend pays us nothing at all. Individual posts carry their own disclosure at the top, and there is a fuller explanation on our affiliate disclosure page.
We take security seriously, partly because that’s literally our job. The site runs over HTTPS, client data is kept on secured systems, and access is limited to people who need it. No system is 100% bulletproof though, so we can’t promise absolute security.
If you live in Florida or elsewhere in the US, you can ask us what info we have on you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Send the request through our contact form. We’ll respond within 30 days. If you’re in the EU or California you have additional rights under GDPR and CCPA respectively, and we honor those same requests.
This site isn’t aimed at kids under 13 and we don’t knowingly collect info from them. If you think we did by mistake, let us know and we’ll delete it.
We’ll update this page when the law changes or when we change how we handle data. The date at the top tells you when it was last touched. Big changes will get a heads up on the homepage too.
