Every office in Fort Myers has an IT story. The printer that only works when a certain person is in. The server in the closet nobody has touched since the person who set it up moved to Tampa. The Monday after a storm when half the computers come back and half don’t.
Tech support is the thing that turns those stories into a quick phone call. And for a small business, who answers that call matters more than most people think when they’re comparing quotes.
What local actually changes
A lot of IT support today is remote, and that’s a good thing. Most problems we handle start as a remote session that can often begin within minutes, and plenty end there. But some problems need someone in the building: a failed switch, new cabling for an extra office, a server that won’t power on, or a front desk PC that has to be swapped before patients arrive.
That’s where being here matters. HenkTek is at 602 Center Rd in Fort Myers (by appointment), and we cover Fort Myers, Cape Coral, Bonita Springs, Naples and Lehigh Acres. When something needs hands on it, it’s a drive across town, not a ticket handed to whoever a national company can find that week.
Hurricane season is an IT problem too
Out-of-state help desks don’t plan for June through November. We do. That means battery backups on the equipment that matters, backups with a copy that isn’t in the building, and a short list of what gets shut down and what gets moved when a storm is coming. The time to sort that out is in May, when nobody is boarding up windows.
Questions worth asking any tech support company
Whoever you end up calling, ask these before you sign anything:
- Who answers the phone, and is it the same people who will work on our systems?
- How quickly does a remote session usually start, and how long until someone can be on site?
- Where do our backups live, and when was the last time anyone tested a restore?
- What happens to our accounts and passwords if we stop working with you?
- Is after-hours work available, and how is it billed?
The answers tell you more than the price does. A cheap plan that can’t get someone to your office for three days is expensive the first time your server goes down.
Hourly help or a monthly plan
Some small offices only need help a few times a year, and hourly support makes sense for them. Our rates page lists current pricing. Offices that depend on their computers every day usually save money and headaches with a managed IT plan: a flat monthly fee, 24/7 monitoring, updates and backups handled, and no surprise bill each time something breaks.
Either way, you get the same people. Day to day questions go to our IT help desk, and if something is broken right now you can start a remote support session or call (239) 234-2334. Repairs are same day or next day when possible, and we’ll tell you when a machine isn’t worth fixing.
