If your office Wi-Fi drops during video calls, has a dead zone in the conference room, or crawls to a stop once more than a handful of people are online, the instinct is to call the internet company. Sometimes that’s right. Far more often, the circuit coming into the building is fine and the problem is everything after it — the wireless setup itself.
Here is the quick test that separates the two. If a computer plugged directly into the network with a cable is fast and stable while the wireless devices struggle, your internet service is not the problem. If everything is slow, wired and wireless alike, then the circuit or the provider is worth investigating. That one check saves a lot of frustrating phone calls.
The underlying cause is usually simpler than people expect: consumer equipment doing a commercial job. A router designed for a household of four is being asked to serve twenty people on video calls, a card reader, a couple of printers, some phones, and whatever guests connect. It doesn’t fail dramatically — it just degrades under load, exactly when everyone is trying to work.

A single router on someone’s desk was never going to cover a few thousand square feet. Business wireless uses several access points positioned deliberately through the space, so signal is strong everywhere rather than strong within twenty feet of the router. In a plaza or an office building you are competing with every neighbour’s wireless, plus microwaves, cordless phones and Bluetooth. Access points left on default settings fight each other and the businesses either side of you. Choosing channels and power levels deliberately is a large part of why a designed network feels different.
Good Wi-Fi is mostly good cabling. Each access point needs a wired connection back to a switch, ideally carrying its power over that same cable. We design around the cabling you already have and tell you plainly where a run needs to be added rather than discovering it halfway through.
Florida commercial construction is not kind to radio signal. Concrete block, stucco over wire lath, metal studs, tile, and the odd firewall between suites all absorb it. Coverage has to be planned for the building you are in, not estimated from square footage on paper.

Some environments defeat ordinary setups. Warehouses and shops have height, racking, and metal everywhere, and the coverage that works when the racks are empty stops working when they’re full. Multi-suite offices sit in dense radio neighbourhoods where your neighbours’ equipment is part of your problem. Outdoor areas — yards, lots, covered service bays — need hardware rated for Florida weather rather than an indoor unit pointed at a window.
Then there are the businesses where the network is carrying more than laptops. Dental and oral surgery practices run imaging and practice-management systems that are unforgiving about dropped connections, and patient data on the same wireless as the waiting-room guest network is not a position you want to be in. Contractors have the opposite shape of problem: a small office, a lot of people in and out, and everything that matters needing to sync when trucks return. Same principles, different design.
Video is unforgiving — it needs a steady connection rather than a fast one, so brief interruptions that you’d never notice while browsing show up immediately as a frozen call. The usual culprits are a weak signal where the person is sitting, too many devices on one access point, or interference on a crowded channel. All three are diagnosable rather than something you have to live with.
It depends on the size and construction of the space and how many devices will be on it — which is why we look before quoting. As a rough sense of scale, a typical suite usually needs more than one and fewer than people fear. What matters more than the count is putting them in the right places.
