It is a fair question. The honest answer is that the line between a website and the rest of your technology stopped being meaningful a while ago. Your site is a server somebody has to patch, a database somebody has to back up, a login somebody can brute force, and a set of DNS records that also decide whether your email arrives. When those are treated as marketing rather than infrastructure, they get neglected in exactly the way infrastructure should not be.
Most small business sites we are asked to look at are not badly designed. They are unmaintained. Plugins two years out of date, no backup anyone has tested, a contact form quietly failing to deliver, and nobody able to say whether the site produced a single enquiry last quarter. That is not a design problem, and redesigning it will not fix it.
So we approach the whole thing the way we approach a network: find out what is actually there, tell you plainly what is working and what is not, fix the things that matter in order, and keep it maintained afterwards rather than handing it over and disappearing.
For twenty years, being findable meant ranking in Google. That still matters and it is still where most of the volume is, which is why an SEO audit covers the familiar ground: whether search engines can crawl and index your pages at all, whether your titles and descriptions are written for humans, whether your content answers the questions people actually type, and whether your local listings are consistent enough for you to appear in map results.
The newer half is that a growing share of people no longer type a search at all. They ask an assistant — ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot, Perplexity — for a recommendation and act on the two or three names it gives back. Nobody in that flow sees a page of ten blue links, so ranking eleventh is functionally identical to not existing.
What decides whether you get named is different from what decides a ranking. These systems favor businesses whose information is consistent everywhere it appears, whose pages answer specific questions in plain language rather than burying the answer in marketing copy, and whose structured data spells out what they do and where they do it. An AI visibility audit checks what those assistants currently say about you, whether they name you for the services you actually sell, and what is missing that keeps you out of the answer.
It is early, and nobody honest will promise you a position in an AI answer any more than they would guarantee a number one ranking. What can be done is making sure the raw material is correct, complete and easy to cite.
We look before we quote. That means a free assessment of what you already have: the site itself, hosting, DNS and email records, current search visibility, and what AI assistants say about your business today. You get those findings whether or not you hire us, because a proposal written without looking is a guess with a price attached.
Web work is quoted per project rather than by the hour, so the number in the proposal is the number you pay and it does not move because something took longer than expected. You see the work before it goes live and you get to say what is wrong with it — revisions are part of the project, not a change order.
Afterwards it stays maintained. A care plan keeps the platform patched, backed up and monitored, which is the step most often skipped and the source of most of the problems we get called in to clean up. If you already have a site and want only that part, it is available on its own.
None of this sits apart from the rest of what we do. The techs handling your managed IT and security are the ones keeping the site patched, which is why the DNS record that controls your email does not get changed by somebody who did not know what it was for.
It depends entirely on scope, so we quote per project after looking at what you need rather than publishing a number that would be wrong for most people. What we will commit to is that the quote is fixed and in writing before any work starts.
Often the second. Plenty of sites are structurally fine and simply unmaintained, slow, or missing the basics that make them findable. The website health audit exists to answer exactly this question honestly, including when the answer is that you do not need to spend money with us.
Longer than anyone selling it wants to admit. Technical fixes can change how you are crawled within weeks, but content and authority build over months. Anyone promising a number one ranking on a timeline is guessing, and the guarantee attached to it is worth nothing.
It is whether assistants like ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity name your business when somebody asks them for a recommendation. It matters now because that flow never shows a page of results, so being the eleventh best answer is the same as being absent. It is early, which is also why the groundwork is cheap to lay today.
We can, and we can also work with hosting you already have. What matters more than who hosts it is that somebody is responsible for patching, backups and monitoring, and that you know who that somebody is.
No. Web, SEO and AI visibility work stands on its own and plenty of clients use only that. It fits neatly alongside managed IT if you want both.
